Terms of use
Last updated October 3, 2026 (adds accounts)
These terms apply when you use CaseFill at casefill.org or inside Claude. By using CaseFill you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use it.
1. What CaseFill is, and isn't
CaseFill is document software. It fills in court forms with the information you type or add, formats papers on pleading paper, numbers exhibits, and lists dates it finds in your papers.
- Not a law firm. CaseFill doesn't employ lawyers for you, doesn't represent you, and doesn't give legal advice.
- You decide. You choose which forms to use, what to write, and whether and when to file. Lists of forms follow the California Courts self-help guides and uscourts.gov; they describe what is commonly filed, not what you should file.
- Clerical checks only. The Checks tab, the privacy check and the timeline look for clerical problems: blanks, totals, spelling, answers in the wrong box, identifiers to redact, dates. They don't review whether your papers are legally correct or complete, and they can miss things.
- No attorney-client relationship. Using CaseFill doesn't create one, and what you put into CaseFill isn't protected by attorney-client privilege.
- Not affiliated with any court. CaseFill is independent. It isn't run by or connected to the Judicial Council of California, any superior court, or any federal court.
If you need legal advice, talk to a lawyer, a legal aid organization, or your court's self-help center.
2. Your responsibilities
- Make sure what you enter is true and complete. Many court forms are signed under penalty of perjury.
- Review every page before you sign, file or serve it.
- Check your court's rules, local forms, filing methods, fees and deadlines. Deadlines CaseFill shows are estimates from general rules; the dates on your own papers and the court's orders control.
- Leave out or redact private information the rules require, such as full Social Security and financial account numbers (California Rule of Court 1.201; Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 5.2).
- Keep your own copies. CaseFill stores your work only in your browser, and clearing it deletes it.
3. Your account
- You need a free account to use the CaseFill app on casefill.org. Sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email.
- Use your own account and keep access to your email and Google account secure. Sign out on shared computers.
- Your account lets you in; it doesn't store your case files. They stay in the browser where you made them, so signing in somewhere else won't show them.
- We may suspend accounts used to abuse the service, such as flooding sign-in emails. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
4. No guarantee
CaseFill is provided "as is." We don't promise that any court or clerk will accept papers made with it, that it is error-free, that it will always be available, or that form lists are current. Judicial Council forms are usually revised on January 1 and July 1; check that you have the current version at courts.ca.gov.
5. Price
CaseFill is free to use right now. If paid features are added later, the price will be shown before you pay, and these terms will be updated first.
6. Who can use CaseFill
You must be 18 or older. Legal professionals may use CaseFill in their work; they remain responsible for their own professional duties.
7. Ownership
Court forms are published by the courts and belong to them. CaseFill's software and design belong to CaseFill. You may use CaseFill for your own cases or in your work, but you may not copy, resell or misrepresent it.
8. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, CaseFill and the people who make it aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses from using it, including missed deadlines, rejected filings, court outcomes or lost data. Total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid CaseFill in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use CaseFill after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by California law.
